Link Trades, Directory listings and Search engines.

Link trading with a few people in general over time gets a bit of traffic.
Listing in directories, especially no reciprocal directories generally sends some traffic.
Making sure I submit all my sites to search engines, in time gets traffic. Search engines are not always fast but if you don't submit to them, they will generally eventually index your site.

more or less, same here - link trades, submits to non-recip web directories, search engine traffic (both web and images traffic) from SEO, a bit of using toplists and link dumps for new sites (of course link dumps that are giving SE friendly backlinks)...

I mainly do SEO. But you should also invest in some link exchanges .. I mean text links.

much of my original traffic came from posting in adult-oriented forums, search engine stuff, a link trade or two, and a handful of directories. whatever you do, do not, i repeat, do not put your links on any directory with less than a PR 3, as it will likely damage you in the long run.

for instance, on one very popular adult forum, i managed to get ahold of an account with over 3000+ posts...this will work great for free backlinks that will bring literally tons of traffic. simply put in the signature of the account a link and some basic info, along with some(possibly hidden

) text with keywords and such. that helps make big g and the other SE's believe it's totally in tune with the context of the threads, which in turn gives a +1 back link to your site, and a vote for PR for that thread.

i tried surfer forums less then a year ago, i made accounts on 10-15 surfer forums, posted there for like 7-10 days, but really posted and made useful comments, not just post whored and it was all ok... after that first week all of them removed my signature so i dropped them

i'm just saying this because many people would want to try surfer forums after your post about them but there's big difference, you got account with 3000 posts

to start from zero is waste of time in my opinion...

You're entirely correct. The 3000+ post count definitely helped, and I actually got the backing of the forum's admins to allow me to leave the signature on the account.

I DID start another account from scratch, never posted replies and such, but said forum has a section for posting links to free videos/pictures, so it worked well with posting just threads of new content every day. I did this for a few weeks, and still to this day I get hundreds of uniques from them daily. I guess it all really boils down to two things; 1) the luck of the draw, and 2) the quality of your contributions to the forums.

If you just post-whore like you said, they'll almost definitely ban you and/or delete all your posts/signatures. If you're making good contributions to a relevant forum, you'll come out on top. I posted in the right forum in the right section and it paid off big. All I can really say is good luck to those of you who will attempt this, as you will indeed get shot down several times before you come out on top. Trust me. I tried the same tactic on like 15 different adult surfer forums, and got banned from at least 10 of them. One even has my link blacklisted, lol, so it can't even be so much as mentioned by credible members of that forum. Good thing I have other domains pointing to it

I was trying to post at adult surfer boards too. They've banned my signature. I don't really know why - I was making good relevant posts with great words and ideas. ... I'd like to advise topicstarter not to choose this tactics. Better to start some blogs or something.
