That's an a large amount of bandwith your using there.... 200 GB A WEEK?!!

I'm thinking about setting up my own tube site in the future but it comes down to bandwith issues....

WebAir? The company which Kide has mentioned hosts this forum? Could they be a good hosting company to go with when considering a hosting company for a tube site?

Any feed back from forum members is greatly appreciated

Really, with tube sites it boils down to a few things...

1) first, you need a DEDICATED server that can handle crazy fluctuations in bandwidth...I made the mistake of using a shared host in the beginning and I guess the site was too much for their server, they went down several times over a few weeks' time, so they got dropped.

2) second, you need to make sure you have the modules you'll need for converting video to flash, which can be hard to find on many hosts. if you have the first part (#1) covered, you should be able to install these modules fairly easily if you know your way around a *nix box.

3) make sure your design is user-friendly and not some half-assed copy of youporn or xtube...

Too many tube sites are becoming more and more complex in graphics just for the sake of it and are forgetting that it's all about presenting the content in the most unobtrusive way possible (I heard one of the two you mentioned is going through a major redesign right now and I believe it wont be beneficial in the long term).

the tube sites are the future, i think there are a lots of opportunities out there, after reading this threat i'll start searching to see what is the investment, and what are the cash that you will get. I think the only problem is the time.

I use 3tbs a moth with my tube site. i use vshare. not really good but ti does the job
